【Summary】
The pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has broken out in Taiwan since May 2022. In order to preserve the medical capacity, the government announced that the patients with confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 will be admitted and treated according to the principle of triage. The “telemedicine and virtual appointment” will be hold and used for patients with mild symptoms. In response to the outbreak of the pandemic, TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) primary medical institutions (clinics) participated in the admission of patients with mild symptoms and provided the treatment for them, which changed the behavior and cognition of people towards TCM clinics. To investigate the behavior of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes in the symptoms of COVID-19 after the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, a total of 1404 patients were enrolled to participate in this study and were evaluated using the questionnaire. The change of symptoms in patients after the treatment of TCM prescription collected in this study can be used as reference by physicians for future clinical treatment in patients with mild acute stage of COVID-19 and its sequelae. Our results indicate that after TCM treatment, up to 87.6% of the patients agree with the "improvement of the disease"; in addition, 89.5% of the patients are willing to use traditional 46 Chinese medicine after this medication experience, and 94.5% of the patients believed that telemedicine consultation was helpful. Taken together, the patients were very satisfied with the auxiliary treatment of TCM and are willing to have TCM treatment in the future.
