We would like to report for what TCM practitioners may experience as a 61-year-old female patient goes through the end stages of pancreatic cancer. The retrospective chart was reviewed and we found that she received 58-day traditional Chinese herbal products in 318-day medical record before her death. Interestingly, her estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was from 69 mL/ min/1.73 m2 to 96 mL/min/1.73 m2 after taking 248-gram of Baohe pills (totally 39 days). This result infers that Baohe pills might be a safe choice in treating gastrointestinal upset for pancreatic patient who were receiving nephrotoxic chemotherapeutic regimen.
